She is dedicated to ensuring evidence-based evaluations and ethical forensic practices in legal settings.
Psychosexual Evaluations
-
I conduct thorough evaluations for individuals involved in legal matters to assess sexual behavior concerns, risks, and treatment needs. These evaluations provide recommendations for rehabilitation, risk management, and appropriate interventions.
-
Whether mandated by the court or requested by families, these assessments aim to provide an accurate and fair understanding of the individual’s needs, safety concerns, and potential for positive change.
Risk Assessments
-
I conduct structured risk assessments for individuals, particularly those with prior offenses or complex backgrounds, to assist with recommendations around safety planning, treatment needs, and community reintegration.
-
I utilize a variety of standardized tools to assess risk, including Static-99R, Stable-2007, SOPROF, Abel, Profesor, VISOR-2, SOTIPS, and ROSAC. These tools help to evaluate static risk factors, dynamic risk factors, and treatment needs, ensuring that the recommendations are based on sound research and best practices.
-
The goal is to provide an accurate, unbiased, and comprehensive assessment of the individual’s risk, readiness for treatment, and prognosis for reintegration into society.
Expert Testimony & Court Consultation
-
I provide detailed, objective reports for the court that reflect the findings from psychosexual evaluations and risk assessments. These reports include treatment recommendations, safety considerations, and suggestions for rehabilitation.
-
I offer expert testimony in legal settings regarding sexual behavior assessments, offender risk, and treatment progress.
-
I assist legal teams, social service agencies, and therapists with understanding complex forensic cases involving PSB, offering guidance on treatment options and case strategies.
About
Kate has extensive experience in evaluating and treating individuals who have engaged in a wide range of sexual behaviors (from non-contact to serial offenders), a wide range of risk in clients (from low risk to high risk), a wide range of relationships (from family intimates to work-related acquaintances to strangers), and a wide range in contexts of the behaviors (from private settings to public settings to virtual/electronic settings). With our evaluations, clients and referral sources can confidently understand the relevant issues and the risks related to re-engaging similar behaviors and receive specialized treatment to manage and reduce the risks while building a resilient lifestyle inconsistent with returning to the problem behaviors.
As a highly qualified expert in psychosexual evaluations and sex offender risk assessments, Kate specializes in evaluating individuals charged with sexual offenses and conducting credible, research-backed risk assessments. Her forensic reports and expert testimony have been widely accepted in both State and Federal courts, which inform legal decisions, sentencing considerations, and rehabilitation efforts.
